Oil and Gas Business Development Manager Control & Automation

Reports To: Marketing Manager/UK Sales Manager

Summary of the Role:

Our client is seeking an individual with Oil and Gas industry experience capable of creating strategy and developing new business opportunities as well as servicing some nominated international and national strategic accounts. The candidate must be a self starter and be able to manage across processes to gain the desired results.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To develop and grow UK Oil and Gas business from today’s base of £5.75 million
  • To devise and implement Oil and Gas strategies in close liaison with the Marketing Manager
  • To maximize existing business opportunities through the use of cross selling and via intelligent product segmentation
  • To identify and develop new business opportunities
  • To develop the company brand and ‘integrated offering’ to UK Oil and Gas sector
  • To manage, within the UK, the Group Global Agreement with one of the large oil companies.
  • Responsibility for sales coverage of nominated customers assigned to you
  • Assessment, development and recording of ‘pipeline’ opportunities within CRM package to ensure continuity and coordination of sales actions
  • To network and interface with the sales and business development processes to ensure coverage of Oil and Gas  customers outside your direct responsibility
  • To work closely with EPC Contractor Manager and associated Tendering Team on Oil and Gas related projects to ensure all influencers are covered
  • To cooperate and interface with Business Drivers from the Service and Solutions processes to promote Value Added Services and Solution opportunities within O&G accounts.
  • Work with Marketing Communications to plan and manage internal & external seminars, lunch & learn sessions and exhibitions
  • Participation, when appropriate, in the Industry Group Oil and Gas to identify gaps in our offering and hence influence future product development for the Oil and Gas industry
  • To effectively manage the dual sales and marketing role to achieve both personal area objectives and wider national objectives.
  • To monitor, measure and react to changes in market trends, market size and market specific legislation, providing clear strategic direction to the UK sales organization
  • To identify and develop the complete supply chain associated with the Oil and Gas  industry including end users, OEM’s, EPC’s etc. This will involve considerable networking with the OEM Sales Team, the EPC Contract Manager and when required, associates based overseas
  • To develop unique ways to grow the Oil and Gas  business in conjunction with your customers and colleagues, providing profitable, growth oriented strategies despite the challenges faced


  • Technical engineering qualification, minimum HND level, experience is essential element


  • Thorough knowledge of Oil and Gas  industry, applications and legislation
  • Good contact base within Oil and Gas  industry
  • Knowledge of Control & Automation, both practical and market orientated
  • Sales Experience
  • Marketing Experience

  • SAP
